Ocean-fable began in 2015 when three historians, frustrated by superficial tour experiences at Britain's greatest landmarks, decided to create something better. We believed that heritage tourism should educate, inspire, and leave visitors fundamentally changed in how they perceive the past.
What started as weekend walking tours around Bath's Georgian architecture has grown into a comprehensive heritage tourism service covering sites from Orkney to Cornwall. Our growth has been organic, driven entirely by word of mouth from satisfied travellers who discovered that history becomes profoundly more meaningful when presented by those who have dedicated their lives to studying it.
Our Philosophy
We reject the notion that heritage tourism must choose between entertainment and education. Our tours achieve both simultaneously. When you understand the desperation of a medieval siege, the political machinations behind a cathedral's construction, or the engineering genius required to raise standing stones, entertainment emerges naturally from comprehension.
Every guide in our team holds at minimum a master's degree in a relevant field. Many have published academic work on the sites they present. This expertise matters not for credentials alone but because deep knowledge enables guides to answer unexpected questions, draw connections visitors would not anticipate, and bring genuine passion to their narratives.
We limit group sizes deliberately. Larger groups generate more revenue but dilute the experience. When you travel with ocean-fable, you will never strain to hear your guide or feel like a number being processed through a tourist attraction. Our tours function more like extended conversations among curious minds.
